Today I'm honoured and happy to be invited at A Vintage Journey, where I show my creation for Alison's challenge: Altered Art.
As I hoard everything... this broken glass was part of the “things-I-should-waste-now-but-which-could-be-perfect-for-a-creation-I-will-make-some-day”!
First I thought about filling the (nearly) globe, then, as I looked at the string bag which contained the shells I was working with for another project, it made me think of those ancient fishing floats that now are for decoration. This is what I came up with:

First I thought about filling the (nearly) globe, then, as I looked at the string bag which contained the shells I was working with for another project, it made me think of those ancient fishing floats that now are for decoration. This is what I came up with:
It seems the float has collected many things during its journey in the sea,
des coquillages,
like seashells
and oyster’s pearls…
il y a même une pieuvre!
there’s even an octopus!
Le bois a rencontré de multiples aventures...
The driftwood came through many adventures...
but the net held on
and the glass too, taking nice colours

I applied two colours of alcohol inks on the glass,
which I placed into the string bag. Then I glued all the elements with hot glue.
I added sand texture paste that I inked, like the string, with Distress Inks.
I had a "coral" die cut from a stencil I made previously: I inked it with alcohol ink. Then I glued the word "adventure" which I embossed with a mix of two powders.

So creative. What a wonderful work of art this is.
RépondreSupprimerLys, this really is an inspired piece of art! I just love every single little element of it, the way you 'aged' the string, the fabulous rusty octopus, the coloured glass - everything. It was wonderful too, to see how you brought the whole piece together too! Your fishing float is a joy to behold! Thanks so much for being our Guest again too! Hugs, Anne xx
RépondreSupprimerProjet fantastique!
RépondreSupprimerWhat an extraordinary piece of recycled art, Lys - I'm captivated! The eye which saw the possibility for the broken wine glass, and then the detail of the construction and all the stories built in to the layers collected as the glass float bobbed in the ocean. Simply extraordinary! Thank you so much for wonderful Pinworthy contribution to the Altered Art theme.
