I didn't hear about Tesla since I left school... and yet, I had a vague memory of a measure unit... but what of?
Then within a few weeks, I bumped into Nikola Tesla several times: in two movies (La La Land, The Prestige) a book, and again in the course of a phone call...
Coincidence?
To reassure myself (about the meaning that escapes to me, or about my inspiration sources?) here is a little tribute to Nikola Tesla, genius too often forgotten...

The canvas features the famous electric arcs pattern of his coil.
The light bulb represents a use of electric energy, but also symbolizes the struggle between Tesla and Edison, who, like for Swan's light bulb, took over for himself a lot of his inventions.
 Quelques détails:

*     *     *
The canvas is about 12x8. I started by drawing the electric arcs, then I filled them with drawing gum. I sprayed two shades of violet ink, then painted the edges in black.
When dry, I rubbed the drawing gum, and the arcs appeared white. I extended the thinner branches with a white pen. The glued objects are a printed circuit board from a calculator, gears, a watch face, aluminium wire...
...all coated with black Gesso, then I rubbed a copper  oil pastel on them. I also added to the canvas stamps embossed with Vintage Photo Distress powder and microbeads.

J'inscris mon tableau aux challenges:
A Vintage Journey: "Canvas"
SanDee and Amelie Steampunk Challenge: "Anything goes"
More than words: "Father and Steampunk" (Nikola Tesla being the FATHER of so many inventions)

A bientôt!
Lys

  5. magnifique !
