Today I'm very happy to host the November challenge at Our Creative Corner!
I admit I gave my teamates a hard time, but you will see, they surpassed themselves!
I admit I gave my teamates a hard time, but you will see, they surpassed themselves!
I had the idea to call the order of things into question:
We often begin a project the right way, use the suitable thing, organize our creations following definite lines or intentions… and sometimes nothing goes right! Sometimes it goes to the bin, sometimes we discover new horizons… and we love it!
So this month I chose the theme "Topsy Turvy"
to push and open our creativity.

This is what came to me:
That day I wished to try my Brushos with texture: so I chose tissue, a little crackle paste and glass beads.
I gessoed a cardboard (a glued pizza box), then I crumpled the tissue to make an horizon, with something which barely looked like a tree trunk.

The time to watch my Brushos travelling, adding inks here and there... I didn't know on which side I had to put my board...

I didn't like this trunk anymore, I tried to dress it with stamps... The drips on the dark blue made me think about corals, but then the sea was set above the horizon...

Alors j'ai mélangé poissons et papillons (imprimés, colorés puis découpés), inversé l'horizon... et voilà mon tableau sens dessus dessous!
So I mixed fishes and butterflies (printed, inked and fussy cut), inverted the horizon, and this is my Topsy Turvy painting!

What a wonderful idea for a challenge theme, Lys, and what a magical creation! I adore the topsy turvy world of earth and water - the brushos on texture look so stunning, and the additions of fish and butterflies and the subtle meadow grasses - it all looks so beautiful. Bravo!

You did give us a hard time Lys but it was all worth it in the end and even though I don't know if I did the challenge correctly, I really enjoyed it!!
RépondreSupprimerLove your wonderfully textured background in this piece - it's so tactile and your close up shots show it to perfection. Beautiful colours and I love how your horizon blends everything together. Juliaxx

Such a great challenge Lys and one which got us all thinking very hard about how we could interpret it. I loved it in the end! And I absolutely adore your amazing creation. The stunning colours, the amazing textures and all the wonderful little details. It really is a stunning topsy turvey piece. Jennie x
RépondreSupprimerWow Lys I love, love, love Brushos with that tissue texture! Definitely need to try that. Thanks for a great challenge. Hugs Jan x

Lys, first let me say this challenge is SO very challenging! But you have given a brilliant interpretation! Love those colors and the idea of an upsidedown world! This is just a beautiful canvas! Secondly, thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your support on my blog! It means the world to me! Hugs!
RépondreSupprimerYour contribution to a most unusual theme this month at OCC is excellent. I just love to see work like this! Original and in your own voice, this piece has inspired me.
RépondreSupprimerOh Lys! This is soooo pretty!! I feel like I'm standing at the edge of a tidal pool, with sand and stones under my feet and the water delicately nipping at my toes as I stand gazing into the tiny pool of water to see these beautiful fish swimming by! OK--I think I may need to be in a tropical location to see these fish, but your creation took me there!! I love looking into water to see the reflections of the world around me upside down!! I love how the Brushos reacted with all of the texture you laid down--so pretty and vivid!! Just a Fabulous challenge this month, Lys!! XOXO-Shari
