Hi and welcome to the 61st challenge at Creative Artiste Mixed Media!

Je vous propose un tableau très maritime: en cette sortie de confinement mon envie de vacances, de grands espaces et de nature est impérieuse; je me suis donc fabriqué des souvenirs de mer, un peu avant mes vraies vacances.

I show you a very maritime canvas: through this end of lockdown, I urgently need vacations, wide spaces and nature: so I made sea memories, a bit ahead of my real vacations.

Mon intention première était un tag. A vrai dire j'ai beaucoup perdu en inspiration ces derniers temps et j'étais rassurée par le petit format.

My first idea was a tag. To tell the truth, I lost my mojo these past times and I was comfortable with the small shape.

J'étais si contente du résultat, et de mon fond, que j'ai finalement transposé le tout sur une toile (40x30 cm).

I was so happy with the result, and with the background, that I finally transposed the whole on a canvas (40x30 cm).

 J'ai repris tous les éléments, en agrandissant l'échelle chaque fois que je le pouvais (filet, gouttes d'eau, pochoirs, coquillages, perles...) et j'ai hésité un moment pour le point focal. J'ai finalement collé mon tag initial sur le tableau, réalisant une mise en abyme qui collait parfaitement avec mon envie d'ouverture et d'infini.

I took the same elements, widening the scale each time I could (net, water drops, stencils, shells...) and I hesitate a moment for the focal point. Finally I glued the tag on the canvas, making a mise en abyme that perfectly stuck my wish of opening and infinity.

Le fond est une carte routière, collée sur la toile et passée au Gesso dilué. J'ai ensuite laissé tomber des gouttes d'encre Distress Oxide, fait des coulures, encré quelques zones...

The background is a road map, glued on the canvas and coated with watered Gesso. Then I dropped Distress Oxide inks, made drips, inked some places...

J'ai appliqué de la pâte texture fine à travers des pochoirs: rose des vents...

I applied thin texture paste through stencils: a wind rose...

et étoiles de mer.

and  sea stars.

Il y a quelques morceaux de tampon texte ici et là.

There are pieces of text stamp here and there.

Le filet est un... filet à oranges, déformé au pistolet chauffant et teinté à l'encre à alcool.

The net is a... string bag for oranges, altered with a heatgun and inked with alcohol ink.

 Les coquillages et certaines microbilles le sont aussi.

So are the shells and some microbeads.

Ensuite ce sont des découpes de papier à thème de chez Prima Marketing.

Then there are paper pieces from a Prima Marketing stack.

Hi and welcome to the 60th challenge at Creative Artiste Mixed Media!

Aujourd'hui je partage un projet initié par notre association Cart'en Scrap: une dictée inspirée de celle de Scrap2loum.
Les consignes étaient très précises, et on devait inclure des photos sur le thème du confinement.
J'ai choisi cette belle photo de montres anciennes portées par le vent, retenues par une simple ficelle, trouvée chez Déviantart. J'ai voulu illustrer ce temps bien particulier du confinement, et aussi l'élasticité de cette notion durant cette épreuve, nos repères habituels de temps étant bien bouleversés.

I share here a project proposed by our association Cart'en Scrap:
as we can't meet these days, a dictation, a blind lift inspired by Scrap2loum. 
The instructions were precise, and we had to choose photos on the lockdown theme.
I chose this beautiful photo of ancient watches in the wind, find at Déviantart.

I wished to illustrate this special time of lockdown time, and the versatility of time during this hardship, our usual landmarks being shaken.

Chaque élément était imposé par la dictée. J'ai choisi un style vintage pour coller aux montres.

Every piece was required by the dictation. I chose a vintage style to stick to the watches.

Malheureusement mon vernis craquelé sur mon titre n'a pas été très réussi...

Unfortunately my crackle glaze on the title was not successful...

La ficelle (imposée) fait bien écho à celle des montres. Tiens! je n'avais pas vu le petit invité sur cette photo!!

The string (required) echoes so well the watches' one. Hey! I didn't notice the little guest on this picture!!

Changements (DT Creative Artiste)

Bonjour et bienvenue au 59ème challenge de Creative Artiste Mixed Media!

Hi and welcome to the 59th challenge at Creative Artiste Mixed Media!

En cet étrange temps de confinement, de "distanciation sociale", de changement de nos modes de vie il est un bouleversement profond qui me questionne: le rapport à soi et à l'autre. Nous en sortirons transformés, c'est certain, et c'est nécessaire.

Quoi de plus naturel alors que de rouvrir un journal? Voici le mien:

Through these times of lockdown, "social distancing", changes in our ways of life, there's a deep disruption I ask myself about. We'll come to the end of it transformed, it's sure and it's necessary.

So what better than opening a new journal?

This is mine:

Il y a beaucoup de vert parce qu'à mon sens seule la Nature est une boussole fiable pour nous orienter.

 There's a lot of green because in my opinion only Nature is a reliable compass to get our bearings.

La rose des vents est donc là pour ça.

The wind rose is here for that.

 Il y a des écrits pour conserver la connaissance, et la mémoire de la leçon à tirer.

There are also writings to keep knowledge and the memory of the lesson we have to remember.

 Encore des plantes et des fleurs naturelles

Again, plants and natural flowers.

C'est bien sûr en l'honneur de Cupidon que je suis partie d'un banal porte-clés,

pour en faire un petit cadre-nid:

Of course it's intending a tribute to Cupid, that I started from a simple key ring, to end with a nesting frame:

J'ai coloré le cœur et la clé avec des encres à alcool.

I coloured the heart and the key with alcohol inks.

Le fond est du papier musique.

The background of the nest is music paper.

 Le cadre est fait de carton plume et d'une vitre, le tout recouvert de papier.

The frame is made with foam cardboard and a square of glass, the whole covered with paper.

C'est à la fois inspirée par le thème du challenge d'A Vintage Journey: "Against the grain" et par cette photo trouvée sur Pinterest:

It's inspired by A Vintage Journey's challenge theme this month: and by this photo found on Pinterest:

 que j'ai rassemblé ce que j'avais depuis un petit moment dans mes tiroirs (vous savez, toutes-ces-petites-choses-qu'on-met-de-côté-parce-qu'elles-vont-bien-un-jour-servir-à-un-projet): en l'occurrence, deux sachets de papier récupérés dans un restaurant (les couverts étaient présentés dedans) et des petites fenêtres en bois de chez A...

... I gathered what I had in my stash for a while (you know, these-bits-and-bobs-we-keep-because-they-can-fit-in-a-project-one-day): so two paper pockets from a restaurant (the cutlery were inside) and small wooden windows from a thrift store.

 J'ai collé les papiers sur un carton, et découpé les lattes de "bois", que j'ai recoupées et encrées en noir sur les bords. Les fenêtres sont aussi colorées à l'encre ou au feutre.

I glued the papers on cardboard, cut the "wooden" planks, that I re cut and inked in black on the edges. the windows are also coloured with ink or felt pen.

 Il me fallait un cadre et voici ce qui faisait exactement la dimension que je cherchais (un fond de boîte de chocolats, merci Sophie!). Je l'ai habillé de papier de soie noir.

I needed a frame and this one fitted perfectly the size of my fence (a bottom of chocolates box, thanks Sophie!). I wrapped it with black tissue paper.

 Et voilà:

La palissade ferme le jardin.

The fence closes the garden.

Elle a déjà bien vécu...

It has already a long life...

et s'y ouvrent plusieurs fenêtres.

and several windows open through it.

Au bord de l'une d'elles, le chat est assis, dans l'attente...

By one of them, the cat is sitting, waiting...

 ... de l'oiseau: s'envole-t-il? Vient-il se poser?

... for the bird: is he taking flight? Is he landing?

 Alors voici un message pour chacun d'eux: quel que soit l'avenir, toujours croire en ses rêves!

So this is a message for each of them: whatever future brings, always believe in your dreams!

Voyage, voyage... (DT Creative Artiste)

Après une pause en janvier, nous voici de retour pour un nouveau challenge, et voici ma création: une valise réalisée à partir d'une boîte d'emballage Nespresso (c'était mon cadeau à Cathy pour la ronde de Noël de Cart'en Scrap, dont le thème était le "voyage"):

After a pause on January, here we are again for a new challenge, and this is my make: a suitcase made from a Nespresso cardboard box (it was my gift for Cathy on our Christmas circle at Cart'en Scrap group, whose theme was "Travel"):

Le carton étant noir, j'ai décoré la boîte de papiers représentant des cartes, tampons de villes, étiquettes, timbres...

The cardboard was black, so I just decorated it with papers showing maps, cities stamps, tags, post stamps...

La poignée et les attaches sont découpées dans du canson noir passé au pastel à l'huile doré.

The handle and the locks are cut in  black Canson paper rubbed with golden oil stick.

A l'arrière, les charnières sont également en Canson, et les "têtes de clou" sont faites en embossant le papier avec un stylet (de même que les coins de la valise).

At the back, the hinges are also in Canson paper, and the "nailheads" are made embossing the paper with a stylus (as are embossed the corners of the suitcase).

 A l'intérieur, le carton est toujours décoré de papier, et il y a trois emplacements où sont insérés:

Inside, the cardboard is also decorated with papers, and there are 3 places where are set:

 une boîte décorée qui renferme un gâteau (provençal),

a decorated box containing a cake (from Provence),

 une boîte de thé (russe),

a (Russian) tea box 

 et un "passeport"...

and a "passport"...

 ... rempli de citations sur le voyage.

... full of quotes about travel.

Chaque boîte a sa petite étiquette indiquant sa provenance.

Each box has its small tag naming where it's from.

Bon et gourmand voyage!
